Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Daily Face Peel

I received a few packets of these Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Daily Face Peels in my Clarisonic Mia value pack that I purchased a few months ago and I was so excited to try them out.  I wanted to finish my current exfoliator before using these because I wanted to see how much of a difference these peels make.

I have heard so many great reviews on the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Daily Face Peels and because they are extremely expensive ($80 for a full pack of 30) I did not want to dive in and make a purchase without trying them first.

The Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Daily Face Peels contains 40 different ingredients to fight skin problems, bringing a beautiful radiance to the skin.  It fights complexion issues while balancing the oil production on your skin.

I have combination skin, so at times it's oily and other times it dry (or both at the same time) so I find that it's hard to find the right treatment for my skin.  I have a little bit of acne scarring, and also dry patches and larger pores around my nose area.  After using the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Daily Face Peels a few times, I saw results immediately.  Although my skin is not perfect by any means, after using all of the samples I can see a reduction in oil production and redness on my skin, my dry patches are no longer there, and my skin does look more healthy.

Because they are packaged as wipes, they are the easiest things to take around and use (no need for water).  You just wipe the first step all over your face and you can feel a little tingly (that is neither irritating or bothersome), and take the second step and wipe it all over your face to finish it off.

Even though the full sized packet is so expensive, I feel that these work best for me.  I only need to use it twice a week (or once if my skin is feeling healthy) and the results are well worth the investment.

NuMe Vintage Ceramic Flat Iron

A little over a month ago I received two My Glam bags which included two NuMe gift certificates (with each one being valued at $100).  So I decided to look around at reviews and see what if it was worth taking advantage of.

I had never heard of the hair tool brand NuMe before, and it's definitely not a hype on the online beauty community.  However, I did manage it find a few reviews and decided to purchase their Vintage Ceramic Flat Iron as a back up flat iron to keep at my boyfriend's place (I hate having to take my GHD around).

The NuMe flat iron is valued at $275, so with the two gift certificates I only paid $75 for the flat iron.  I was kind of blown away by the price of the NuMe flat iron, because it is considerably more expensive than my GHD (which is my holy grail flat iron).

The NuMe Vintage Ceramic Flat Iron is 100% solid ceramic iron which helps bring shine to the hair.  The curves edges of the flat iron can give you silky straight, beachy waves, or great curls with one tool.  It's meant for all hair types and the ceramic plates prevent drying out and any damage.  It can heat up to around 410 F and I love how compact it is.

The package also included a heat protectant pouch for convenient travels.

Now for the review, for being as expensive as it is, I can't say that the NuMe beats out my GHD.  It is nice as a back up flat iron but not a replacement.  It takes a little longer to heat up than my GHD, and I don't like that it's a dial switch for temperature changes (so I am never really sure what temperature it's at, only a certain range).  Also, I have to run through my hair a few more times than I usually do to get the look I want (even with my hair being fine).

I do enjoy that it leaves my hair smooth and does the job well of not drying out my hair and causing anymore damage.  Overall, it's a nice flat iron, but for the price I would just skip it and go for the GHD.

March My Glam Bag

I received my March Glam Bag last weekend and although I wasn't too excited about everything included, I can say that I am not too disappointed at it to cancel yet.

The March Glam Bag was mainly focused on restoring your skin after the harsh Winter winds.  So it was filled with a lot of skin care samples.

The bag contained the following:

- Purlisse Pur-Protect Essential Daily Moisturizer
- Murad Eye Lift Protector
- Derm Store $25 gift card
- Purlisse Pur Lip Comfort Daily Lip Moisturizer
- Keracolor Color Enhancing Leave In Treatment
- MyGlam Classic Crease Brush & Case

I love receiving the $25 gift card to the DermStore, which made the bag well worth it.  All of the other products are alright, and I will definitely give them a try.  I am definitely loving the design of this month's bag, very Spring like.

Urban Decay GIVEAWAY!!! (CLOSED)

I have finally decided on what I wanted to giveaway for the month of March.  It took me awhile to finally purchase the prize, but because I was thinking too much about it, it made the decision more difficult (since there are so many beauty products to choose from).

One of my favorite brands when it comes to eye shadows is Urban Decay.  I am in love with both of the Naked palettes and I think that the shadows are well worth the money for the quality.  For the month of March, I decided to give away the Urban Decay single eye shadow in the shade Sin, which is a beautiful neutral color with a lovely sheen.  It is perfect as an all over the lid color and goes with almost any crease color.

This is just a Thank You for your support and a way for me to give back to all of you.

Crown Brush 7 Piece HD Brush Set

HD Brushes have been making more and more of an appearance in the beauty community and I can see why they are pretty popular.  HD brushes are basically brushes with synthetic bristles, and I find synthetic bristles easier to care for when it comes to cleaning and making my brushes last.

I purchased this 7 piece brush set from Crown brushes on Hautelook.com a few weeks ago and I think I am going to be enjoying them.  I don't remember the exact price I payed for them, but I believe it was around $15-20, which is not a bad price at all.

The set includes the following:

- Deluxe tapered powder brush
- Deluxe tapered blush brush
- Deluxe concealer brush
- Deluxe crease brush
- Deluxe eyeshadow brush
- Deluxe eyeliner brush
- Metal spatula and mixing plate
- Carrying case

I love that includes a metal spatula and mixing plate, because those are the two things that I don't own already.  This is going to make a great traveling kit because it's very compact and the brushes are extremely soft.  Definitely got a great deal on these!

Crown Brush Deluxe Round Buffer Brush

For the past year and a half, these synthetic, HD brushes have really made their mark in the beauty community.  They have become one of the essential tools for flawless makeup application, and I really have found my love for them.

A few weeks ago, Crown was having a sale on Hautelook.com, and when I saw this Deluxe Round Buffer brush on sale I knew I had to have it.  A lot of other brush companies are selling this type of brush on their website, but for the price, it's hard to dish out $34 for a brush like this when I can just get a MAC of Sigma brush.  However, Hautelook.com was offering this brush for $10 (valued at $34) and I thought it was an amazing deal.

The Round Buffer Brush is a two toned synthetic brush with a chrome ferrule and a wooden handle with a nice weight.

I love using this brush to buff in mineral foundation or buff liquid foundation into the skin for that natural look.  It's also great to even out any contouring or blush.  It's extremely dense and soft, and does the job!

February Favorites

Another month has passed by and it's time for the monthly favorites again.  Even with February being a special month, Valentine's Day, I kept my make up routine for the month and any special occasion pretty simple.

I actually used very little or no foundation at all this month and stuck with my essential concealing products for that natural and easy every day look.

1. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer - I have tried many under eye concealers and I have yet to try one that is as light weight as this one. This concealer blends like a dream, and even better, it doubles up as an under eye treatment.

2. MAC Studio Finish Concealer - I have tried so many types of concealers and I think ultimately the MAC Studio Finish is the perfect concealer for me for spot concealing.  A little goes a long way (so this pot is going to last a while), it's the perfect color and just blends invisibly into the skin while giving me the added coverage I may need.  On days that I don't want to wear foundation, this is all I need.

Review: Coming soon!

3. Lancome Color Ideal Pressed Powder: This is my Holy Grail pressed powder at the moment. It's gives my face a wonderful, semi matte finish and really sets my foundation well without feeling heavy or caking up at all. It is just the finishing touch to my makeup that also photographs well.  You can tell I love it since I’ll have to buy a new one soon.

4. Lancome Star Bronzer Long Lasting Bronzing Powder - It's a matte bronzer, which immediately won me over, because I do not like to have that much sheen or shimmer on my cheeks. It's literally the perfect shade for me and so far has worked well for both summer and fall season (even with my different skin tones from getting tanned). The color is very buildable, and the finish is just natural.

5. Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed - It's the perfect natural blush that can work as both a blush and contour color.  It looks beautiful on most skin tones and the texture is just so silky smooth.

Review: http://www.luuux.com/health-beauty/tarte-amazonian-clay-12-hour-blush-exposed?blog_id=31398

6. benefit Dandelion Blush - it's a lighter pink blush that is pretty sheer, but I find pairs well as a light highlight just above Tarte's Exposed blush.  Just a hint of Dandelion at the top of your cheeks above a darker blush or bronzer brings in a beautiful sheen.

7. Lancome Color Design Shadows in Kitten & Mannequin - I have been loving the combination of the rosy pink (which also looks beautiful on the cheeks as a blush) and a simple dark neutral with a sheen.  It's a classic combination of colors that can be applied with a light hand for that effortless daytime look, or amped up for that sexy eye that is different from a conventional smokey eye.

8. MAC Paint Pot in Vintage Selection - This is one of my most favorite paint pots that I own, fromt he MAC Champale Collection.  Vintage Selection is just a beautiful pink paint pot that makes any light shadow pop without looking too much.  I love to wear it on its own for those lazy mornings where I still want to look done up without the work.

Review: http://www.luuux.com/node/2705220?blog_id=31398

9. Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Boy - What's better and easier than a simple nude pink lip that is a beautiful color and amazingly moisturizing at the same time.  I've had Chanel's Boy in my purse all month and find it the perfect color for an every day look that is easy to apply and just a classic color.  Also, with the harsh winds of Chicago, the formula of the Rouge Coco Shine lipsticks have been amazing.

10. OPI Color So Hot It Berns - OPI can get really creative with their naming system, however I give them amazing credit for this beautiful bright orange polish that has me wishing it was already Spring.  The color just speaks for itself.

That's all I have for the month of February! I hope you all enjoyed and please do share all of your favorites!

Julep Maven

I'm sure most of you may be aware of the Julep Maven program at this point.  A short description of it is that it's similar to a Birchbox subscription where you pay $20 a month and you get sent Julep products, which is mainly a nail polish/care brand.

For this month I was sent the following products from the Classic With A Twist selection:

- Brooke (Shimmery Purple)
- Jennifer (Nude Pink)
- Julep Elixir Organic Moroccan Argan Oil
- Nail Filer

I did consider skipping this month, because I have so many polishes already, however I was really drawn to the polish selection.  I can't have enough of nude pink polishes, and I actually don't have a shimmery purple polish.  Also, I was a really interested in the Argan Oil because my cuticle have been dry lately and I'm hoping this will be a solution.
