Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains

While comparing all of the "jumbo" style lip pencils and stains on the market now, I knew one of the brands I had to test out was Revlon.  Revlon is notorious for being one of the best affordable lip products available.

The Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains are a balm that add that perfect hint of color, making it perfect for the Spring and Summer seasons.  Because of their great pigmentation, they are a true stain that is quite long lasting for being as moisturizing as they are.  The balms give you that nice satin sheen on your lips, which allows you to skip that extra gloss step in your routine.  It's incredibly lightweight and applies so smoothly onto the lips.

Lovesick, Romantic

There are twelve different shades to choose from, so there's definitely the perfect shade for everyone out there.  The two I chose were Lovesick (a hot pink) and Romantic (a cherry red).

Out of the available jumbo lip balm stains available, Revlon and Cover Girl are definitely on the top of my list for drugstore products.  They are both very comparable to the Clinique Chubby Sticks (if not better) while stille being the fraction of the price.

What I do want to mention is that although both the Revlon and Cover Girl lip balm pencils are the same price, you can find Revlon products on promotion at Ulta (Buy One Get One 50% Off) more often than the Cover Girl products.  In the end it all comes down to preference, and the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains are definitely one to look at.

OPI French Quarter For Your Thoughts

The month of April here in the city has definitely been mainly filled with rain and gloomy clouds, so I of course had to relate my nail polish color to the mood of the weather here.  After looking around in my nail polish collection, I decided to pull out a nice, neutral, basic grey instead of going with a color with black tones.

Having a basic grey in your polish collection is great, and OPI's French Quarter For Your Thoughts is my absolute favorite true grey shade.

OPI's French Quarter For Your Thoughts is a true, creamy grey with no shimmers at all.  The milkiness of the shade just makes it absolutely beautiful.  Also, with it being so creamy, the color is incredibly opaque.  One coat of this polish and you'll be ready to go!

There's nothing much to say about this polish, but that's what's good about it.  Just a basic color that I love.

GLO Whitening Antioxidant Toothpaste

One of the best ways to brighten up a look when it comes to beauty is by making sure your teeth are as white as can be.  I don't wear lipstick all of the time, so it's really important for me to make sure my pearly whites are clean and bacteria free.  And because of that, I am very specific with what I use to clean my teeth.

My holy grail toothpaste, that's right I have a holy grail toothpaste, is Rembrandt.  It's gives my teeth a good cleanse, and the results really show after a week or two of continuous use.

However, after being committed to my Rembrandt toothpaste for so long, I decided to try out a different brand after coming across it at Sephora.  When I saw the GLO Whitening Antioxidant Toothpaste I was really drawn to give it a try because I know the GLO tooth whitening line is quite infamous.

The GLO Whitening Antioxidant Toothpaste is enriched with vitamins and antioxidants, which is suppose to lead you to a brighter smile.  However, after a week of use, I did not find it helpful at all.  I don't usually like to write negative reviews on my blog, but I had to share this because it's one of those products that I had high hopes for, and instead I was quite disappointed.  I found that the GLO toothpaste did not keep my teeth as white as my Rembrandt toothpaste.  And along with that, the taste was just off.  I thought having a different flavor toothpaste might be a nice experience, but honestly you should just stick to minty, refreshing flavors.

Definitely NOT a fan of this one.  Going back to Rembrandt immediately.

Cover Girl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm

After getting my hands on a few of the travel sized Clinique Chubby Sticks last year, I was quite impressed and surprised with how much I liked the concept of a jumbo lip balm.  However, paying that amount of a Clinique Chubby Stick was not something I wanted to do, so when more and more drugstore brands released their versions of their "chubby stick" lip balms I decided to pick up a few to give a try.

Out of the different drugstore brands I've tried, I have to say that the Cover Girl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm has to be my favorite dupe for the Clinique Chubby Sticks.

The Cover Girl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balms are exactly what they look like, just a lip balm in stick form.  The concept of a jumbo lip balm in a pencil like packaging is great for anyone looking to touch up their lip color, or add a splash of moisture, on the go.  Twist up the product and glide on the product smoothly.  Infused with Shea and Mango butter, these lip balms are incredibly hydrating and adds that lovely, glossy finish without being tacky.

Now on to the colors...

Rose Twist, Blush Twist, Watermelon Twist, Ruby Twist

These babies are incredibly pigmented for being a balm, and that has to be one of the main reasons why I enjoy them so much.  They add that great pop of your colors to your lips effortlessly and aren't just an expensive chapstick with a subtle color.  With the Shae and Mango butters, these are extremely hydrating and the colors just stand out on your lips (with the exception of the nudes).  With a variety of 16 shades, there's a shade perfect for everyone out there.

But remember, these are lip balms, which aren't meant to be long lasting.  So do expect to reapply after drinks or meals.  But because they're convenient to carry around, it's easy to just slip these in your bag and bring them everywhere with you.

Warby Parker 1922 Collection

A little over a week ago, I was contacted by the Online Media Manager of Warby Parker Eyewear to help with the announcement with the launch of their new 1922 Collection of Optical and Sun Glasses.  Usually, I don't really get into sponsored posts unless my heart is really into it, and don't worry this isn't the usual sponsored post where I share things they have sent.  Instead of sending me anything, I was provided with information about their new collection to look through, along with beautiful images of their new, vintage inspired, frames.

Now on to the 1922 Collection...

Warby Parker's new collection was inspired by the year 1922, which some of us may know that time period as the roaring 20's.  With the end of World War 1, women entering the workforce, and a nationwide prohibition, fashion and style changed from the more formal wear to a more relaxed,  sportswear type of style.
"Our new collection translates interwar glamour into a wearable future.  Each of the three new frames comes with a sunglasses version, and all feature dramatice details in custom acetate and lightweight stainless stell.  The 1922 Collection frames go as well with pearls as they do with your best Tin Pan Alley moves.  As they say: living well is the best revenge."

The collection consists of three different frames...

PORTER

Whiskey Tortoise                                    Gimlet Tortoise

Whiskey Tortoise                                    Gimlet Tortoise

The Porter frames were designed with slimmer wire temples and bold acetate eye frames.  With these bold accessories on you you'll definitely make a splash at any gathering.

DUKE

Gold

Silver

The Duke frames really live up to their name.  The perfectly round frames bring a carefree, yet sophisticated style that is definitely a conversation starter.

JOPLIN

Gold                                         Silver

Gold                                         Silver

The Joplin frames are a more wide spaced frame, designed with a fine wire and accented browline.  These add that dash of personality and style to any look.

Now these frames are definitely making a statement in the fashion world, and because of that I really love them.  Because of their bold and unique designs, they are a more standout accessory.  Which style do I prefer? The Duke frames have to be my favorite out of the collection.  They really bring back that 1920's, classic vintage look that I find fun and classic.

What's even better about Warby Parker Eyewear, and what drew my heart to them the most, is that their mission statement is:

"We're Building A Company To Do Good In The World"

We may be blessed with access to affordable eye wear, but there are millions of others out there that do not have the luxury we have here.  With the help of Warby Parker and their Buy A Pair, Give A Pair program, with every pair of Warby Parker frames purchased, another pair is given to a person in need.

So make a difference in style and take a look at the Warby Parker 1922 Collection, along with their entire permanent selection of frames to give the gift of improved vision to those in need.

Real Techniques Brushes

One of my favorite, more affordable brush line has to be the Real Techniques brushes (which can be found at Ulta).  I absolutely love the quality and feel of the brushes, and because they were designed by a professional make up artist (Samantha Chapman) it only makes them that much better.  I find all of the brushes in the line multifunctional, meaning that even though it was made for one (or two) uses, I can essentially use one specific brush in many different ways.  This makes the brushes practical and user friendly, especially for make up beginners.

What's also great about the brush line is that all of the brushes are synthetic (duo fiber) types of brushes.  For me, those are my ideal type of brushes because it really helps with packing on product while blending at the same time.  So the brush really does most of the work for you, leading to a more natural look.

The first brush I picked up was the Expert Face Brush, which is one that I have been eyeing for a while now.  I can't get enough of face brushes and this one is definitely one of my new favorites.  Although I prefer to apply my foundation with my hands, I love using this type of synthetic, dense brush to finish off the blending process to my foundation routine.  So for a more natural, flawless finish I would spray a bit of MAC Fix Plus onto the brush and just work the brush around to blend and soften up the base.  Along with foundation, the Expert Face Brush works wonderfully as a contouring brush with my Chanel Bronze Universal cream bronzer.  Because of it's shape, it fits perfectly into the contour areas, and the synthetic bristles really do a great job with applying and blending the product evenly.  And if you're into cream blushers this will also be the brush for you.

The second brush I picked up is one that I already own, but just needed more of, the Shading Brush.  I absolutely love the shape of this brush, and find myself reaching for it everyday.  One of my favorite uses for it is actually as a concealer brush. When I apply my under eye concealer/corrector I would use this brush to blend out the product for that natural look.  And the second way I love to use this brush is actually for all of my cream and liner eye products.  The slightly tapered end and the synthetic bristles work amazingly with blending any cream eye shadow or liner to soften up the look.  And because of the design of the brush, you don't have to put in as much effort into the blending and application process because the brush really does most of the work for you.

I honestly want the entire Real Techniques line and have most of the brushes already.  I just like to practice a little self control and try not to do too much damage when I am stocking up on products.  However, one of the best times to pick up these brushes is when Ulta offers them during their 'Buy One Get One 50% Off" promotion.  Definitely a great way to save on these already affordable brushes.

Zoya Megan

Yes I am obsessed with pastels for the month of May also.  I just can't get enough of the cute, pale, creamy pastel polishes for the season.  They are such wearable colors, and go with my skin tone really well (so far).  So before my trip to Miami, Florida last weekend, I decided to give myself a manicure and choose a new color for my trip.  For me, I love wearing a specific color while on vacation.  That way, when I look at that certain polish again, it'll remind me of my fun trip (weird I know).

So for Miami, I decided to go with Zoya's Megan, which is a beautiful, creamy Lilac color.  It's absolutely beautiful and just fits into the light, spring theme.  The shade goes well with all of my summery outfits, and I honestly got so many compliments on the shade while I was away.

Megan is a true to color Lilac purple that just applies so smoothly and evenly.  And of course the formula of the polish is unbeatable.  After three days in the sun, in the water, on the sand, and just partying it up in South Beach Miami, there was no chipping!  Definitely a keeper!

Nordstrom Haul

Hauls, hauls, hauls!  I know I've splurged a little this week on a few (or more) beauty products.  But my excuse is that I am going on a little trip so I wanted to be stocked up on a few items for my travels.  After swinging by Ulta, I decided to take a "quick" trip over to Nordstroms to visit a few of the beauty experts that I know there.  And while I was there I re-stocked up on a few essentials.

- Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Foundation (250 Bisque)
- Lancome L'Extreme Waterproof Mascara
- Giorgio Armani Waterproof Smooth Silk Eye Pencil (#1 Black)
- Chanel Lotion Confort Toner

I am bringing all of these products with me to Miami, and it will be the perfect place to test out the products to see how to do in warmer weather.  I am most excited for the Lancome Teint Idole foundation and the Giorgio Armani eye pencil (thanks to The Raeviewer for the recommendation!).

Also what's better than receiving a gift with your purchases?! Lancome is always having a gift with purchase promotion, and this shopping trip was no exception.  The gift included the following:

- Cosmetic Bag
- Renergie Lift Multi-Action Night Cream
- Genefique
- Hypnose Drama Mascara
- Cils Booster XL Lash Primer

I love the little gift with purchase because a few of the items are the perfect size for traveling so I will definitely get great use out of them.

Ulta Haul

It's definitely been a while since I've done a haul post, but because I'm prepping for a trip to Miami at the end of the week I thought I'd share with you the little things I picked up.  One of my favorite places to go when I am searching for daily beauty essentials is Ulta.  Don't get me wrong, I love Target and can spend hours there, but by going to Ulta I can ensure that I won't over spend on other items such as clothing and accessories.

With Ulta, you have a huge inventory of haircare, skincare, and makeup products ranging from affordable drugstore items to high end brands.  So what did I pick up?

- Real Techiniques Shading Brush
- Real Techniques Expert Face Brush
- Philosophy Purity Cleanser
- Urban Decay De-Slick Setting Spray
- Zoya Megan
- Maybelline Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser
- Joico Moisture Recover Shampoo & Conditioner
- Exfoliating Cotton Pads

I went with the mindset of just picking up basics such as the exfoliating cotton pads (which I love!) and travel sized items (shampoo, conditioner, cleanser, UD setting spray).  But of course it's a little hard to not get distracted a pick up one or two extra goodies to take home.  I remembered I needed to re-stock on my Maybelline Age Rewind under eye concealer, so I picked it up in two different shades.  Also, I am in love with the Real Techniques brushes so I took the opportunity to pick up two more.

The good thing about Ulta is that you can always take the advantage of savings and use coupons with your purchase if you find them online.  I am definitely more prepared for my trip now.

Essie Mint Candy Apple

What's my favorite color for Spring thus far? It has to be Essie's Mint Candy Apple.  I picked this up last Spring/Summer and never really gave it a try until now.  Like many of my other polishes, it was buried in the rest of my polish collection and was never as appreciated as it should have been.  Before Easter weekend I was looking for the perfect Spring polish and I came across Mint Candy Apple.

Boy was I happy I found this again! Mint Candy Apple is a perfect Spring like color and is a balance between a minty green and a pale blue.  It honestly reminds me of a Tiffany blue when seen in person.  Like all of the lighter pastels in the Essie collection, the formula is incredibly creamy and opaque.  One to two coats and you will have an even and effortless application without very little to no streaks.

So how much did I love this polish? I wore it for a little over two weeks straight! And with a collection like mine that does not happen often.  I actually have Mint Candy Apple re-applied onto my nails again today.  I have the bottle sitting out on my vanity because it's so pretty to look at.  It's really tempting me to stock up on more mint like polishes.

Zoya Dove

As the weather becomes brighter and brighter each day, I've slowly let go of my darker polishes and am re-exploring all of the lighter pastels in my nail polish collection.  I always find dark polishes (with black undertones) very chic and classic, but it's also fun to embrace the Spring-y colors.

One of the brands that has the best pastels and creamy colors has to be Zoya.  They have an amazing selection of "Easter" like shades and I am always drawn to their lighter shades.  Honestly, when their Spring and Summer collections and released everything just looks too pretty to pass up.

So while I was searching through my collection I came across Zoya's Dove which I have yet to try out.  Dove is an extremely creamy light blue with hints of gray.  It's a love "neutral" polish and just looks so well on all skin tones.  I especially love how opaque the formula of the polish is and how evenly it settles on your nail bed after application.  This is literally one coat and the application was not streaky at all.

It's definitely a great color to start the season!
